Game time, experience, consistency. It takes all of these ingredients to create a capable grass-roots footballer. Our Lancaster University based group football training sessions are grouped by ability, not age. There's lots of great benefits to a child playing with varying other kids of different ages, but we know that doing this helps to develop a child's ability with the greatest effect. Our group training sessions are focused on building confidence, continuous improvement and team work, whilst maintaining a balanced approach to sessions that ensure the kids have lots of fun too.
Sessions are delivered over a 6-week block that focuses on a specific skill set. All for just £60. First time with Goal Stars? Try a group training session for free.

Ball mastery is the technical foundation for any player. It's also the area that many children find most difficult - because it requires patience, balance, concentration, and above-all-else, perseverance. Ball mastery doesn't develop overnight, but Goal Stars will give you the drills, tips and tools to get you started.

Confidence is the cornerstone of grass-roots football and it echoes through every aspect of our lives. Confidence is what Goal Stars is all about and this block of training will see faces beaming and confidence growing galore!
Young players bodies develop at different rates, so why do we train in groups based on age? At Goal Stars we don't. Our agility training is based on ability - meaning players get to train with others at a similar level. It's better that way.
Defending is a fine art. One that is often overlooked by children focused on attacking and scoring goals. Get the tackle right and you'll be your teams hero long after the game is over, win or lose!
Passing is a technical aspect of the game that we turn in to a skill. A good pass is the difference between keeping possession and giving it away, scoring the winning goal or settling for a draw.
More than scoring goals and not just focussed on attacking positions. This is about bringing team play together to support the attack. But of course goal scoring is all part of the fun!

Yes, advanced booking is required. You can book on to the session the very same day but intakes fill up fast and we only take new players every 6 weeks, so best to book on asap to avoid disappointment.
The 6-week block costs £60 and is payable in advance. This equates to 6 sessions over 6 weeks at £10 per session and is intended as an affordable alternative to 1:1 coaching.
Each session lasts for one hour. The sessions starts promptly at the allocated time subject to the users of the facility prior to the session leaving promptly.
In some cases, it may be possible to join a block of sessions that have already begun. Depending on the number of sessions in to the programme, the price will be based on either the full amount of £60 or the pro-rata amount based on the number of sessions remaining. We recommend calling us if this is something you might consider.
All players will need to wear suitable astro-turf trainers, shin pads and suitable sports kit. During winter months, warm weather kit is recommended. Please also bring a water bottle to the session.
Maximum group sizes are restricted to 16 children however, where possible, group sizes are split in to smaller group sizes based on ability. Generally, children develop at a similar rate so most children are grouped with children of a similar age. Grouping by ability simply allows us to place children that may benefit from playing with younger or older children to do so.
Quality matters when it comes to training and UEFA sets the highest standard of coaching available in the UK. UEFA C Licence is specifically designed for coaching grass-roots age children but is not required by the FA to manage a grass-roots football team. Goal Stars training sessions ar always delivered by a UEFA C h
